Dorothy
Gibbs Class of '41 126 Cedarwood Ln., Madison, TN 37115.
There doesn't seem to be many of my class left. Would love to hear
from anyone who went to Litton from 1937 to 1941. Shortly after graduation
I went to work for Vultee Aircraft as secretary to a department head.
When war was declared I had to wait till 1943 to join the Womens
Army Corp. attached to the Army Air Corps. Served in Maine and New
Hampshire. While in Maine I met my husband, James Dalton, who was
from Utah. After service we lived in Idaho while he attended Pharmacy
School. We moved back to Nashville and had three daughters. After
25 years we were divorced and I remained single for a while. Became
active in the American Legion, being the first woman to be elected
to a number of offices. While serving as State Service Officer for
the AL, I met my second husband in Washington DC while attending
a conference for the Legion. At that time I was working as a Claims
Specialist for the Tenn. Dept. of Veterans Affairs. Jim was the Commissioner
of Veterans Affairs for Maine and a National Officer in the Legion.
After our marriage we lived in Maine in the summer and Madison in
the winter. Jim dies Jan. 5, 2007. I retired in 1989, but have remained
active in the Legion and other organizations. Have attended the Litton
luncheon at Picadilly several times, and look forward to seeing/hearing
from other classmates.

(Dicky) Roger Bell, Jr. Class of '51
It will be good to be in touch with former classmates of Isaac Litton.
I was on the football team for two years under Coach Bob Cummings
and Coach John Witt. I was in the Navy for 5 years and returned to
Nashville and attended Vandy and got my BA in 1959. I currently live
in West Tennessee in the town of Munford. Munford is about 25 miles
north of Memphis on the way to Dyersburg. I was a Federal Civil Servant
for 31 years. I worked for NASA at Huntsville until I retired in
1988. My wife is a native of Munford and she taught school for 20
years. She taught in Huntsville for 14 years and after I retired
we bought a little 22 acre horse farm in Alabama. In 1993 she got
a chance to return to Munford and teach, so we moved here where she
completed her career last year.

Sally
Garvin Smith Class of '53 13545
Old Hickory Blvd., Antioch, TN 37013. Like so many girls in the '50's,
I went to work as soon as I graduated from Litton. I retired from
American General Ins.Co. about three years ago and am now working
at the Grand Ole Opry as the backstage hostess in the hospitality
room. I just recently found this website and certainly enjoyed reading
the comments especially those that I remember. I still have close
contact with many of my classmates. I did see names of people I had
remembered but had forgotten because they were not in my class. My
husband of 39 years passed away 13 years ago and I am now in the
process of selling our small farm on which I have lived for approx.
50 years. It was a hard decision but I decided I didn't need 73 acres.
I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me especially those
that were not in our class. I enjoyed reading the link about our
band and remember fondly so many of the things we did. It spoke of
the trip to the Cotton Carnival. I made that trip and the Chisca
hotel. Also, I remember that a Pat Traylor was a majorette in the
'50's and I did not see here mentioned in the history of the band.

William
D. (Billy) Cartwright Jr. Class of '54
Sure am glad to know that there will be a 50th Reunion for the class
of 1954. I have not lived in the Nashville area since 1958. I kept
up on what was going on in the East Nashville/Madison area through
my sister Martha until her death in 1997. At this time I am a full
time caregiver for my wife of almost 47 years who suffered a massive
stroke last October. She has recovered much more than anyone expected
but not as much as I had hoped for. Mary's progress will determine
if I will be able to attend. As for me, after graduation I flopped
around Nashville for about a year and then joined the Air Force.
My Air Force duties took me to: in order, Texas, Tennessee, Japan,
Laos, New Jersey. Morocco, France, Mississippi, Pakistan, Mississippi,
Greece, Mississippi. Retired in 1979, the same year my daughter graduated
from college and my son from High School. Have been here in Biloxi,
Mississippi ever since. I retired from the US Postal Service when
Mary had the stroke (a month earlier than planned) and have not had
a day off since. Would like to hear from anyone who might remember
me. I recognize most of the names but can't put faces with most of
them though. They say your memory is the second thing to go and I
can't remember what it was that went first!

retails knock-off perfumes. At the present time, we make over 200

I was Co-Chair of the Clinic Bowl in 1971 and was Nashville Area

Frank Class of '60 Howdy friends.
Greetings from hot Phoenix where I have lived for 19 years. I have
a house in an historic neighborhood in central Phoenix. I have worked
the past 11 years as a clinical therapist seeing mostly adults for
psychotherapy. I guess I am still somewhat crazy after all these
years. I do a lot of self-contained bicycling throughout beautiful
Arizona and the West. I have been following the Lewis and Clark trail
throughout Oregon, Idaho and Montana. I have been through the Canadian
Rockies and I am planning a self contained ride to Vancouver this
fall. Life is good other than the fact that my precious doggy, Buddy
has lymphoma. I divorced in 1977 and have not remarried. I have no
children. I enjoy the single life. My brother, Paul, is still in
Hendersonville. So I get back to beautiful Tennessee now and then.
I am proud to be from Nashville, a graduate of Isaac Litton and I
wish health and long life to all. God bless.

Jerry
Morris Class of '60
spouse: Betsy Jo Ellis. 1307 Walden Crossing Dr., Canton (metro ATL),
GA 30115. "Final exams are just around the corner". Can't
you just hear those words echoing through the halls of Litton? Here
we are 45 years later and find too many of our friends and classmates
have already taken their "finals". Seems that I remember
from high school that Shakespear said somthing to the effect of "out,
out, brief candle..." and you know it has been all too brief.
I know I wish I could turn the clock back to Litton days and come
forward more slowly. My life has been full with children, grandkids,
owning businesses, traveling, etc. (life has not always been a smooth
road, there have been many "deep holes in the road" and
I have the 'scars' to prove it) but, you know while those things
have made up life, the most rewarding of all has been the ever growing
relationship (friendship) that I've had with Jesus. If we knew what
all He has in store for us, we'd be clamoring to leave all this behind
and get to where He is. I hope none of you miss the big answer on
the "final". Sometimes I think we have a tendency to overlook
the obvious. I have so many fond memories of so many of you. A couple
of hours together every 15 or 20 years just isn't enough. BJ and
I married in 1984 and she feels that way, too. Well, you've got my
e-mail address ( or you can click on my name) and I'd love to hear
from you.

Clark
Bowdoin Class of '66 Greetings from
Tokyo. In Japan for 20 years now; but also keep a home in Waikiki.
Actually, it has been so long that, I wonder, was it the Class of
'65? Or '66? For me, it's a non-issue; as I did not finish at Litton,
but moved away after my tenth year. BS from NY State; some post-grad
at East Texas State. Turned 54 and now entering "geezer-hood." Been
abroad half my life in international broadcasting (Europe, the Antarctic,
Asia and elsewhere.) Now at NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corp.;) as an
announcer and news presenter for the World and domestic services
(Yep, Tokyo Rose's old work place.) Haven't seen Nashville since
1992, but on that trip I managed to drive by the school building
to juggle old memories, and was amazed it hadn't significantly changed
from the way I remembered it, (The old painted "Marching 100" lettering
was clearly visible on the athletic building). Would love to hear
from any of the old classmates. Note:
Sadly, Clark passed away in 2003.

my heart. Loved her Hats.

Lee Class of '68 Hartsville
Convalescent Center, 649
McMurray Blvd., Hartsville,
37074. You may remember David Lee running
the football as halfback or playing center field on the baseball
team, but David leads a very different life these days. David and
I were next door neighbors. When David was in his mid-fourties he
had a series of strokes that has left his motor skills impaired.
David spends most of his days in a wheelchair. Although his mind
is alert his speech is terribly impaired. Through his rough exterior
is a kind heart, but lonely of fellowship. David has NO family visits.
I visit David as much a possible in an attempt to keep his spirits
up. David lives in a small rest home in Hartsville. Although his
physical needs are being attended; it is his emotional and spritual
needs that are starved.
David would love to see or hear from any of his classmates and friends. If
you cannot visit please write him and keep his in your prayers. (Biography

White Class of '68 Although
I moved from Nashville in 1965, Litton was my life and love. I was
in the "Marching 100+" and had great dreams before my parents
were transferred to Washington, DC. It has been great looking at
the site and I appreciate all the memories and even addresses of
people with whom I grew up. I was supposed to graduate in 1968 so
I had to leave all my friends behind. Even though I'm a non-graduate,
I will always feel part of Isaac Litton.

C. Sharp, III Class of '72 321
Peterson Road, Knoxville, TN 37922. I just discovered your site. I
was one of the many Isaac Litton folks who had to graduate from Madison
High in 1972. My father graduated in 1942 from ILHS and ran one of
the community drug stores for over 40 years, along with my grandfather.
Please post my information on your site. I have fond memories of Litton
and have one of the Ponder prints. Both of my parents are still living
in Nashville and I see them frequently. I havent been on the
east side of town since our 30 year reunion in 2002 at the old gym.
Has it been renovated yet? |
Joy
Moore Caskey Class of ('73) Thank
you for this wonderful site, please keep it up. I took a walk down
memory lane. I would have been in the class of 1973. We lived across
Gallatin Road from the school, so there are a lot of my "growing-up"
years that are entwined with ILHS. My late sister, Gaylene Moore,
was in the graduating class of 1965 and my grandmother, Flossie Moore,
was the cafeteria manager for a number of years also my mother, dad,
and aunt attended Litton. I will send in a membership even thought
my "virtual" class is not listed. Have you heard from others
in my class?

Zelda
Dean Melton Class of '51 2139 Oakmead
Blvd., Oakville, Ontario, Canada L6H 5N7. Now Mrs. Bruce R. Musselman.
Bruce and I celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary in September
2003. Our family ( four children, eight grandchildren) gave a lovely
Open House for us. It was a very special day. My brother Richard
and his wife Virginia were there and my wedding maid of honor, Lillian
Caldwell and her husband drove up from Charlotte, North Carolina
just to spend a couple of hours with us. It was a wonderful surprise.
We both have our own businesses and work full time and obviously
enjoy doing so. We try to get away for a winter break and spend time
at our cottage on Georgian Bay at Wasaga Beach, Ontario. Most years
we take a week off in the fall around our anniversary date. We own
four weeks at Mayan Palace outside Playa del Carmen in Mexico and
just returned from spending a week there. In the fall we will probably
go to Florida and the Bahamas. Our grandchildren range in age from
six months to sixteen years. The family usually gather at our home
for major holidays, birthdays, etc. We have a golf tournament every
September Labor weekend at our cottage for family and friends, attendance
runs from sixty to eighty people for the day. We do wish to keep
in touch. Regards, Zelda

(Sammy) Welch Class of '51 I am responding
to the invitation to report in as I discovered that you have a category
for those of us who were semi-dummies back then, 'former students'.
I should have been in the '51 class but dropped out after my junior
year to marry my 'sweetheart' who is still by my side. I remember
you well as many others that were there in our class. I enjoy the
web site of the Littonians, you guys are doing a great job with much
detailed information. I am Sam (Sammy) Welch, now residing in Greenbrier,
TN at 115 Empson Drive 37073. Moved here couple years ago to be near
our two kids who migrated to this area. We lived in west Nashville
since we married in 1950. I note that Jeff Keyes lives near-by so
we'll have to say hey. Also, another close pal all through school,
Fred Schott, is close by in Springfield. I see that you were looking
for Shirley Ritter, I saw her a couple years ago, she was a teller
at the B.O.A. branch in Hillwood but is now retired. Just wanted to
check in before I checked out, Best Regards, Sam Welch |

Morgan Class of '53 Comments: After
living in San Francisco & Houston for about 20 years, I'm happily
married for over 17 years, My bride (Charlotte Anne) and I live on
a beautiful farm 8 miles from Hohenwald (about 70 miles SW of Nashville).
My "ex" was Christine Binkley (also class '53). Charlotte and I are
raising our Grandson, Gary III (Trey); he was two on 12/2/00. What
a treasure and joy! Incidentally, about 300' from where I'm typing
this, is the entrance to a natural wonder that we own, "Blowing Cave"
(it's been mapped for three miles underground) Out of the mouth of
the cave is a spring that flows at the rate of 10,000 gpm -- that's
600,000 gph; (15,000,000 gpd) of the sweetest, best tasting water
you'll ever drink! We've never lost a "blind taste test" to anyone.
We look forward to hearing from the rest of you. Cordially, Gary
